Qormi dismantle Rabat to edge closer to securing Premier League status
Qormi put in a perfect performance to defeat Rabat 4-0, yesterday afternoon.
This victory was an important step for Qormi to move closer to securing their Premier League status.
The match did not go as planned for Rabat who are desperate for a victory to avoid relegation.
Qormi immediately took control of the match and went ahead on the eighth minute. Alfred Effiong served Moises Avila Perez who then beat goalkeeper Sean Mintoff with his shot.
Qormi left no chance for Rabat to regroup as they scored the second goal just three minutes later. Joseph Chetcuti left no chance for Mintoff with his low shot.
On the 69th minute, luck was not on Rabat's side as a shot by Malcolm Licari hit the woodwork.
The match was practically put out of reach for Rabat when on the 70th minute, Qormi were rewarded a penalty. Kris Thackray was brought down inside the area by Joseph Caruana. From the penalty spot, Kris Thackray beat goalkeeper Sean Mintoff with his perfect shot.
In added time, Qormi were rewarded another penalty when goalkeeper Sean Mintoff fouled Alfred Effiong inside the area. Effiong made no mistake from the penalty spot to make the final score 4-0.
Jose Luis Armario Negrin was voted BOV Player of the Match.
