Malta defeated by Azerbaijan

Malta lose 3-0 against Azerbaijan as defender Andrei Agius sees red.

The Maltese national team was beaten 3-0 by Azerbaijan in a friendly match at the Bakcell Arena in Baku on Wednesday.

Rufat Dadashov scored for the host team in the fifth and 71st minute while the other goal was scored by Rauf Aliyev.

Maltese defender Andrei Agius was given his marching orders after 72 minutes for pulling down Dadashov in an off-the-ball incident.

Wednesday's game in Baku was the last friendly for Malta's before next month's World Cup qualifiers against Denmark and Bulgaria.
