Balzan ease past Rabat
Balzan defeated Rabat Ajax 2-0 yesterday evening at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
Both teams had very few chances on goal until the 15th minute when Rabat’s Moises Avila Perez took advantage of an error and had his shot deflected into a corner by goalkeeper Daniel Miguelez Martinez.
Balzan’s Lydon Micallef had his shot go just wide on the 19th minute.
Balzan managed to take the lead on the 24th minute. A powerful shot by Firas Aboulezz was deflected by David Azzopardi to leave no chance for goalkeeper Pavle Velimirovic.
On the 39th minute, Rabat were unlucky not to equalise when Malcom Licari’s header was cleared off the goal line by Andrew Scicluna.
Rabat were denied another scoring chance on the 65th minute when Diego Carrillo Pendas hit the woodwork with his shot.
Balzan managed to score their second goal of the match on the 75th minute. A perfect shot by Steve Bezzina left no chance for goalkeeper Pavle Velimirovic.
Balzan almost scored their third goal of the match on 83rd minute but Jose Luis Armario Negrin his the woodwork with his header.
Daniel Miguelez was voted BOV Player of the Match.
