Negredo strikes again as shaky Man City see off Hull

A week after suffering an unexpected loss to promoted Cardiff, the hosts were again troubled by one of the Barclays Premier League's newcomers in what was an unconvincing display by Manuel Pellegrini's men.

Substitute Negredo, who Hull tried to sign before their doomed last campaign in the top flight four years ago, broke the deadlock after the hour and Toure curled in a last-minute free-kick.

Norwich new boy Nathan Redmond gave the Canaries their first Barclays Premier League victory of the season.

Redmond, a £3.2million capture from Birmingham this summer, grabbed what was the only goal of his side's 1-0 win over Southampton at Carrow Road.

After Hammers goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen had made a trio of fine saves in the first half, he could do nothing about Pennant's superb 25-yard free-kick in the 82nd minute, just five minutes after coming on as a substitute.

There was also a late winner for Newcastle as they edged past Fulham 1-0 at St James' Park, with Hatem Ben Arfa thumping home an 86th-minute left-footed strike for United's first goal of the season.
