Hibernians continue perfect run
Hibernians continued their perfect start to the season after they defeated Vittoriosa Stars 5-2 even though they were playing with ten-men for most of the match.
This victory would be Hibernians third of the season in just as many games after they already defeated Tarxien and Valletta.
Just five minutes into the match, Hibernians managed to take the lead thanks to a goal from Rodolfo Soares.
On the 18th minute, Hibernians were awarded a penalty and Clayton Failla made no mistake from the spot to make the score 2-0.
On the 22nd minute, Edison Luis dos Santos scored the third for Hibernians.
On the 25th minute, Hibernians were reduced to ten-men after Jonathan Pearson was sent off after he received a straight red card.
On the 29th minute, Vittoriosa managed to reduce the advantage that Hibernians had when Marcelo beat goalkeeper Mario Muscat with his shot.
Hibernians restored their three-goal lead when they were awarded another penalty. Clayton Failla again beat goalkeeper Sean Cini from the penalty spot to make the score 4-1.
Just before half-time, Oscar Guerrero scored Vittoriosa’s second goal of the match to make the score 4-2 before the break.
Hibernians made sure they would collect all three points when they made the score 5-2 after Andrew Cohen beat goalkeeper Sean Cini on the 60th minute.
