Naxxar back to winning ways

The result was not good for Tarxein as it was their third defeat in four matches.

Naxxar started the match immediately looking for a goal and it almost arrived three minutes into the match. Off a freekick by Pablo Doffu, Daren Falzon had his header deflected into a corner by goalkeeper Nicky Vella.

Tarxien replied when Miguel Ciantar had a shot on goal on the 12^th minute, but it was deflected into a corner.

Naxxar managed to take the lead on the 15^th minute. Off a freekick by Pablo Doffo, Andre Rocha da Silva had his shot blocked by goalkeeper Nickey Vella, but off the rebound, Thiago Lopes de Souza made no mistake with his header.

Tarxien managed to score the equaliser on the 45^th minute. Off a cross by Miguel Ciantar, Jorge Santos Silva headed the ball past goalkeeper Julian Azzopardi.

In stoppage time of the first half, Naxxar managed to take the lead again when they were awarded a penalty after a defender handled the ball inside the area.

From the penalty spot, Andre Rocha da Silva made no mistake from the penalty spot to make the score 2-1.

Naxxar had to work harder to protect their lead when they were reduced to ten men on the 69^th minute when Angus Buhagiar was sent off after he clashed with Tarxien's Josef Mifsud.

Naxxar managed to make the score 3-1 on the 85^th minute to make sure they take home the three points. In a counter-attack, Gilmar Ribeiro served Andre Rocha da Silva and the latter made no mistake with his shot.

Andre Rocha da Silva was voted BOV Player of the Match.
