Roma continue perfect run after victory over Udinese

A review of the weekend's action in the Italian Serie A.

Substitute Michael Bradley scored the only goal of the game as Roma sealed their ninth consecutive Serie A win at the expense of Udinese.

The capital club survived the challenge of ambitious Napoli last time out and faced another huge test in Udine, where they struggled for incision without injured captain Francesco Totti before losing Maicon to a red card midway through the second half.

That setback served only to spur Rudi Garcia's men on, however, and American midfielder Bradley emerged from the bench to beat Ivan Kelava, booking the Giallorossi a slender 1-0 win and a haul of 27 points from the 27 available.

Two first-half Gonzalo Higuain penalties earned Napoli a 2-0 victory over Torino .

Torino's players protested against both spot-kicks, the first given for a challenge on Dries Mertens and the second for handball against Kamil Glik, but to no avail and Higuain confidently slotted both home.

Although Torino felt those decisions went against them, they can have few complaints about the result as Napoli dominated from the start and deservedly picked up their seventh win in nine league games.

Torino, who finished the match with 10 men after losing Migjen Basha to a late red card, remain in mid-table after seeing their winless run stretch to five matches.

Goals from Arturo Vidal and Carlos Tevez earned Juventus a comfortable 2-0 victory over Genoa in Turin but the reigning champions remain five points off the pace.

It was a return to form for Juve, who lost at Fiorentina before suffering a Champions League defeat at Real Madrid in midweek, and the swashbuckling football on display on Sunday afternoon will go some way to reassuring coach Antonio Conte that his club can still achieve their aim of winning a third straight Scudetto.

Fiorentina capped a memorable week with a 2-1 victory at Chievo to stretch their unbeaten run in Serie A to four matches.

Bostjan Cesar fired the hosts in front at Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi but two goals from Juan Cuadrado turned the result around for the Viola.

The latest of late goals from Marco Parolo settled a 3-2 win and fired Parma into the top half as AC Milan's second-half comeback at the Stadio Ennio Tardini proved in vain.

The Gialloblu were good value for their half-time lead with both Parolo and Antonio Cassano cutting through a disorganised Milan team to score impressive individual goals.

But something clicked with the visitors over the break and, shortly after Alessandro Matri hit an overdue first goal for his new club, defender Matias Silvestre dragged Milan level with a header.

Massimiliano Allegri's men pushed hard for the winner but it would not come, Parolo instead grabbing the glory with a free-kick late on.

Bologna's unwanted record of being the only team in Serie A without a victory this season came to an end as they defeated Livorno 1-0 to move off the foot of the table.

Stefano Pioli's men were without a league win since May 12, having lost five and drawn the other three of their opening eight games this season, but they were finally able to celebrate a three-point haul thanks to Jose Angel Crespo's early goal.

Two of Serie A's early strugglers Catania and Sassuolo played out a goalless draw at the Stadio Angelo Massimino.

The home side had the majority of the chances but Sassuolo almost left with all the points only for Simone Zaza to miss an open net with four minutes left.

On Saturday, Inter Milan embraced the unusual challenge of dislodging Hellas Verona from the top four by producing a confident attacking performance that yielded a 4-2 win.

Andrea Mandorlini, a lifelong Inter fan and veteran of nearly 200 games in the Nerazzurro shirt, had coached his promoted Verona side into fourth place with five wins from eight top-flight games.

But Inter are enjoying their own resurgence under Walter Mazzarri following last season's dismal ninth-placed finish and his team built an early lead through Vangelis Moras' own-goal and a sixth goal of the season from Rodrigo Palacio.

Raphael Martino's classy response was quickly trumped by a third Inter goal from Esteban Cambiasso but, after Porto loanee Rolando put the result beyond doubt with his first goal for the Italians, Romulo made the scoreline respectable for the visitors with a precise late contribution.

Sampdoria moved away from the relegation zone with a hard-fought 1-0 win over 10-man Atalanta.

Shkodran Mustafi scored the only goal of the game in the 56th minute for the Blucerchiati, who made their fans suffer on the way to their first home win - and only second overall - of the season.

Atalanta finished the game with 10 men after Constantin Nica was sent off in the 63rd minute, although they still caused the home team several problems as the clock ran down.
