Arsenal still refuse to discuss Cesc sale
Barcelona have said that Arsenal have no intention whatsoever of discussing a transfer for Cesc Fabregas, despite reports in Catalunya on Tuesday that suggested a deal has been struck.
A "secret agreement" had been reached between the two clubs that would see Fabregas relinquish the captain's armband at Arsenal and rejoin Barcelona for a fee in the region of £37.5 million according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Spanish champions failed with a bid of €35 million before the World Cup finals but have not given up hope of recruiting their academy graduate, despite Arsene Wenger recently insisting "the story has to stop".
Barcelona spokesman Toni Freixa says Arsenal have not altered their stance and will not listen to any offers for the midfielder.
"Arsenal do not want to sit down and negotiate with us," Freixa said. "There is no lack of will on the behalf of Barca or Cesc. Arsenal just don't want to negotiate."
