Derby victory for Valletta

Valletta defeated Floriana 2-0 to stay in touch with Hibernians and Birkirkara in the BOV Premier League standings.

Dennis Rocha dos Santos put Valletta ahead on the 40th minute. Edmond Agius served Dennis as the latter to beat goalkeeper Daniel Hanford with his shot.

Valletta sealed their victory on the 70th minute. Off a cross by Dennis Rocha dos Santos, Abdelkarim Nafti headed the ball towards Edmond Agius who then had his low shot beat the Floriana goalkeeper.

In the other match of the day, Qormi defeated Tarxien Rainbows 3-0.

Qormi took the lead on the 36th minute after they were awarded a penalty. Josef Mifsud brought Joao Gabriel da Silva down in the penalty area. Roderick Bajada beat goalkeeper Nicky Vella from the penalty spot.

Qormi were awarded another penalty on the 49th minute. Alfred Effiong was brought down by goalkeeper Nicky Vella. The referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot and sent the goalkeeper off. Alfred Effiong beat goalkeeper Anthong Curmi from the penalty spot to make the score 2-0.

Qormi sealed their victory on the 76th minute. Joao Gabriel da Silva' s shot left no chance for the Tarxien goalkeeper with his shot.
