Manchester United's season goes from bad to worse as Van Persie is out for a month
Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has been ruled out for a month with a thigh injury.
United boss David Moyes confirmed the Holland international had suffered the injury when he took the corner that led to Phil Jones' match-winner in the Champions League triumph over Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday.
"Robin Van Persie is out for a month," said Moyes.
"He picked up a thigh strain in taking a corner kick which led to the goal."
Van Persie will miss around eight matches.
United will hope the former Arsenal forward returns in time for the crunch tie at Chelsea on January 19.
