Palacio's back-heel wins it for Inter

Inter win the Milan derby with a magical goal by their prolific striker, Rodrigo Palacio.

Rodrigo Palacio scored a brilliant back-heeled goal as Inter claimed a late 1-0 win over archrivals Milan at the San Siro on Sunday evening.

Christian Abbiati made two excellent saves ten minutes from time to make the game looked destined for a draw but the Argentine pounced on a moment of fortune to snatch a win.

It was in the 85th minute, when a low cross by Guarin was met by Rodrigo Palacio’s back-heel, which left the Milan goalkeeper helpless to intervene.

Before the half-time, Inter protested vehemently after their call for a clear penalty was turned down, when Rodrigo Palacio was brought down by Christian Zapata in the box.

Ten minutes from the full-time whistle, Abbiati also denied Inter with two saves in quick succession from Palacio’s shot in the six-yard area.

Massimiliano Allegri’s men were then reduced to ten men in stoppage time after Muntari was given a direct red card for a challenge on an Inter player.

The 1-0 result was the first win for Inter’s new owner, Indonesian media-tycoon Erick Thohir.

The result arouses more questions on the future of Milan’s coach Massimiliano Allegri, with Milan currently placing a mere 13th position, nine points adrift from the last position.
