Battle of the big men: Norman Darmanin Demajo versus incumbent Joe Mifsud

Sister newspaper Illum predicts MFA contender Norman Darmanin Demajo has the edge over incumbent Joe Mifsud for the presidency of the football association.

Undecided voters that represent the executive committees of Malta’s football league teams will be crucial in determining whether Joe Mifsud, UEFA honcho and MFA president since 1992, loses his presidency of the association.

Many have failed before him, but Norman Darmanin Demajo, or Dédé as he is known, thinks he knows what Mifsud’s Achilles’ heal is. Like Mifsud, the former MFA financial controller has been campaigning for votes from the football clubs of every single division – at least 81% of the votes are a foregone conclusion.

Now Dr. Mifsud been their years as President but the MFA need changes as now its time for the new blood. I have nothing against Dr. Mifsud but i think Mr. Norman Darmanin Demajo should be next and he is still young.

We cannot forget what has Dr. Mifsud done to this game in Malta. If he is not elected MFA would again be run by clubs rather than by independent persons who ensure there is a balance in running this important association.
