Mosta edge past Floriana as Sliema fight back to defeat Hibernians
Mosta earned an important 1-0 victory over Floriana even though they played the last half hour of the match with ten men.
This result puts Mosta in a position to almost secure a place in the Championship Pool.
Mosta managed to take the lead on the 77th minute. A shot by Diego Pereira was partially saved by goalkeeper Daniel Hanford, then Kurt Zammit has his shot blocked but thenoff the rebound, Zammit made sure he found the back of the net with his shot.
Even though Mosta were one man down, they managed to protect their lead and collect the precious three points.
In the other match, Sliema Wanderers defeated Hibernians 3-1.
With this victory, Sliema returned to winning ways while Hibernians suffered their third defeat in four matches.
Hibernians took the lead on the 19th minute. On a counter-attack Jean Paul Farrugia served Obinna Obiefule who then dribbled past goalkeeper Henry Bonello to then place the ball at the back of the net.
Sliema were awarded a penalty on the 57th minute when Ryan Camilleri brought John Mintoff down inside the area. From the penalty spot Admir Vladavic scored to level matters.
Sliema took the lead on the 63rd minute when Mark Scerri served Stanley Ohawuchi inside the area and the latter beat goalkeeper Mario Muscat with his shot.
Hibernians were reduced to ten men on the 75th minute when Bjorn Kristensen was sent off. The match turned for the worse for Hibernians a minute later when Clayton Failla was also sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
On the 90th minute, Sliema had Clifford Gatt Baldacchino sent off after he also received his second yellow card.
In added time, Sliema made sure they sealed their victory. Admir Vladavic had his shot partially saved, but off the rebound Stanley Ohawuchi made sure the ball hit the back of the net.
