Manchester United’s Anderson saved from burning car

Manchester United midfielder Anderson is being hospitalised after a near-fatal car accident left him unconscious in his burning car, and was pulled from the vehicle shortly before it exploded.

The accident occurred on a rural road in the Geres area of Braga, Portugal. The accident reportedly occurred on Sunday early morning when the car hit the wall of a farm and flew into a field.

A witness reportedly said the 22-year old Premier League player was “dragged out of the car” and “lifeless”, and was accompanied by another two passengers. It has not yet been established who was behind the wheel.

Reports suggest the player had spent the night at the Sardinha Biba nightclub, and left the scene in a two-seater Audi R8, hosting three passengers.

The player’s friend, Victor, and a young Brazilian woman were also unconscious and suffered from whiplash and shock. All three are expected to be released from hospital later today.

The player is reportedly due to return to his Premier League club after sustaining a knee injury in February which kept him out of the world cup.
