Penalty miss condemns Vittoriosa to Division 1

Vittoriosa practically had the game wrapped up, but hard fighting Qormi came back to make the score 2-2. Vittoriosa could of sealed a very important victory when they were awarded a penalty in the final minutes of the match, but the Edison Luis Dos Santos shot was saved by Matthew Camilleri.

Vittoriosa took the lead on the 59^th minute. Off a cross from Leighton Grech, Jorge Santos Silva made no mistake by heading the ball past Qormi goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia.

Exactly one minute later, Anthonly Ewurum dribbled the ball past the Qormi defence to shoot past the Qormi goalkeeper  to make the score 2-2.

On the 81^st  minute, Qormi were back in the game thanks to a goal from Josue Souza Santos who slotted the ball in after receiving from a corner by Matthew Bartolo.

On the 86th minute, Qormi were awarded a penalty after Joseph Chetcuti was brought down inside the area by Pierre Aquilina. Joseph Farrugia converted to equalise.

Vittoriosa were given the best chance to win the match when they were awarded a penalty in added time. Jorge Santos Silva was brought down inside the area by Roderick Sammut. Edison Luis Dos Santos’ effort from the penalty spot was neutralised by substitute goalkeeper Matthew Camilleri.
