Valletta defeat Birkirkara to go top

Valletta were the dominant side from the start of the match after they went close to scoring on the 23^rd minute. William Barbosa served Michael Mifsud who then had his shot blocked by a defender. Just minutes later Denni Rocha dos Santos had his effort go wide.

Valletta took the lead on the 42^nd minute. Off a Edmond Agius freekick, Jamie Pace headed the ball in past goalkeeper Jorge Mora.

Birkikara where back in the game after they scored the equaliser ten minutes into the second half. Tevor Cilia served Moises Avila Perez with a precise cross to have the latter beat goalkeeper Andrew Hogg with his shot.

Valletta regained control of the match when they scored on the 67^th minute. Off a Edmond Agius freekick, Steve Borg’s header beat goalkeeper Jorge Mora.

Valletta end the match two points ahead of Hibernians, who however still have a game in hand.

Edmond Agius was voted BOV Player of the Match.
