Hibernians thrash nine-man Mqabba
Hibernians defeated nine-man Mqabba 4-1 to move four points clear at the top of the BOV Premier League standings. This victory for Hibernians was their seventh successive win.
Hibernians started the match in fantastic fashion as they took the lead just after two minutes of play. Edison Luis dos Santos served Clayton Failla inside the penalty area to have the latter shoot past goalkeeper Kris Calleja from close range.
Hibernians doubled their lead just eight minutes later when Marcelo Dias served Clayton Failla who then went on to score his second goal of the match.
Mqabba got back into the match on the 11th minute when Bojan Mamic beat goalkeeper Mario Muscat with his shot.
Just three minutes later, any chance for Mqabba to make a comeback where slightly dimished when striker Bojan Mamic was sent off for a foul on Clayton Failla.
On the 52nd minute, Marcelo Dias served Edison Luis dos Santos with a perfect pass to have the latter beat goalkeeper Kris Calleja with his shot from close range to make the score 3-1.
On the 78th minute, Mqabba were completely demoralised when Branislav Timotic received his second yellow card and was sent off by Referee Clayton Pisani.
Hibernians put the match to rest on the 90tyh minute when Peter Chizoba Anizoba had his rising shot from outside the area beat Mqabba goalkeeper Kris Calleja to make the final score 4-1.
Clayton Failla was voted BOV Player of the Match.
