Valletta win derby as Balzan Youths defeat Tarxien
Valletta kept pace with leaders Hibernians after they defeated Floriana 1-0 yesterday afternoon.
Valletta started the match on the attack to try to get the early goal.
Valletta managed to take the lead on the 36th minute when William Barbosa beat goalkeeper Manuel Bartolo with his shot after receiving a precise cross from Michael Mifsud.
One goal was enough for Valletta to remain right behind Hibernians in the BOV Premier League standings while Floriana fall five points behind Valletta.

In the earlier match Balzan Youths defeated Tarxien Rainbows 2-1. This result leaves Balzan in eighth place while Tarxien remain at the bottom of the table.
Balzan had to wait till added time in the first half to take the lead. Off a Pedro Calcado corder, Nikola Tasic headed the ball past goalkeeper David Cassar.
On the 56th minute, Balzan doubled their lead when off a cross from Miguel Ciantar, Kris Bright had his shot beat Cassar to make the score 2-0.
Tarxien reduced the scoreline on the 62nd minute. Balzan goalkeeper Matthew Camilleri manage to block a shot from a corner kick, but off the rebound Orosco Anonman was there to conclude by beating the goalkeeper with his shot.
One minute later Balzan were reduced to ten men when Rennie Forace received his second yellow card and was sent off by referee Kevin Azzopardi.
