Valletta humiliate Rabat as Hibernians put four past Floriana

Rabat remain stuck at the bottom of the table with only six points and have been without a win in twelve matches.

Valletta lost a chance to take the lead on the 13th minute when they were awarded a penalty. Lateef Elford-Alliy's effort was denied by goalkeeper Velimirovic.

Valletta then took the lead on the 25th minute. A shot by Abdelkarim Nafti was deflected by a defender and went past Rabat's goalkeeper.

Valletta doubled their lead on the 28th minute. Off a freekick by Abdelkarim Nafti, a header by Lateef Elford-Alliyu hit the crossbar bounced onto the goalkeeper and into the net.

Rabat managed to reduce the gap when they were awarded a penalty on the 43rd minute. Ryan Micallef beat goalkeeper Yenz Cini from the penalty spot.

On the 49th minute, Valletta made the score 3-1. A bad clearance by Rabat's goalkeeper gave Roderick Briffa a chance to place the ball in goal easily.

Edmond Agius scored on the 57th minute to make it 4-1 with hos powerful shot leaving no chance for goalkeeper Pavle Velimirovic.

Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza scored for Valletta on the 62nd minute to make it 5-1.

It would be Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza again on the 69th minute to make the score 6-1. Shaun Bajada passed to Mifsud Triganza inside the area and the latter beat Rabat's goalkeeper with his powerful shot.

In the other match, Hibernians easily defeated Floriana 4-0.

The defeat was a blow to Floriana as it would be their fourth consecutive loss and their hopes of making it to the Championship Pool are very slim.

Hibernians took the lead on the 20th minute. Edison Luis dos Santos served Obinna Obiefule with a brilliant back pass and the latter's low shot beat goalkeeper Daniel Hanford.

It only took another three minutes for Hibernians to double the score. Off a pass by Matthew Bartolo, Obinna Obiefule advanced past Floriana's defence to then beat Floriana's goalkeeper with his powerful shot.

Hibernians put the match practically out of reach for Floriana when they made it 3-0 on the 74th minute. Off a cross by Jackson Lima, Edison Luis dos Santos headed the ball past goalkeeper Daniel Hanford.

Hibernians made sure they took home the points on the 79th minute when Obinna Obiefule's cross was controlled by Edison Luis dos Santos and the latter easily beat Floriana's goalkeeper with his low shot.
