Under-21: Malta and Wales play to a draw
Malta and Wales Under-21 sides played to a 1-1 draw in what was a very balanced match.
This match served as a good springboard for the remaining Under-21 qualification matches next month for both teams.
Malta will take on France on September 7.
Wales started the match with most of the possession and had their first chance on goal on the 15-minute. Hal Robson-Kanu had his header hit the crossbar.
The Maltese immediately went on the attack when froma cross by John Mintoff, Terrence Vella put Malta in the lead with a header from close range.
Wales kept the pressure on when in the last 15-minutes of the first half Hal Robson-Kanu had numerous chances denised.
Wales started to pile on the pressure but the first half ended with Malta leading 1-0.
In the second half John Zerafa almost doubled Malta's scoreline when his shot just went wide.
Almost 8 minutes from the end of the match Wales got the equaliser when Neil Taylor's cross was headed in by Hal Robson-Kanu.
