Readers have their say: Moyes’s Manchester blues
We asked readers to tell us what's wrong at Old Trafford after the Red Devils' 3-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool: here's a few thoughts we collected from our online survey
Nothing’s wrong! Liverpool outclassed them Mario Farrugia
David Moyes is a football genius Brian Fsadni
Lack of discipline and tactics – the players are there Lawrence Lanzon
I don’t think he is doing anything wrong. Like every club, be it political or sports, Man Utd cannot go on winning everything. Ferguson left a bombshell and Moyes is only facing the problems. It will take time. Robert Pace
It’s not Moyes, it’s the players! Martin Scicluna
Manager: Tactics, players playing out of position, not capable of motivating team ahead of such an important game, not effecting substitutions at the right time, during Liverpool’s game fist substitution around the 75 minute and wrong changes, RVP should have gone at half time, can’t play Fellaini and Carrick together – Carrick is ineffective when Fellaini plays by his side No name supplied
He is not using Ferguson mobile to call the ref before the game. Conrad Aquilina
The Matrix is real. This is a glitch in the software. A backdoor. You know something is off when Man Utd are not winning. Stan Chetcuti
Nothing, long may his reign of mediocrity continue. Sam Frendo
Moyes is finding it hard after Sir Alex. Players seem not to be happy under his guidance, it’s much better if he moves out. William Galea
Simply put he tried to fix something which was unbroken. He changed the management and the tactics to a squad that won the league by 11 points. We all expected a transitional season but finishing the league in 7th place is unacceptable. Having said all this, Man Utd are not a club renowned for firing managers and I would expect the club to keep Moyes as manager next season. David Griscti
Tactically inept and clearly not a man who can inspire his team. Not winning the league was on the cards, but doing it this way is not acceptable. He has no clue at all, and it cannot be just the players. It will be a waste of money to prolong the misery. He should be fired on Wednesday. Van Gaal should be brought in for a few years, until a real successor can be brought in.... Ancelotti, Jose, Pep or the Dortmund guy! Etienne Vella
The whole problem is not Moyes’ fault. But he has his fair share of the blame. The first big mistake was that he removed all of Ferguson’s coaching staff back in July. He should have kept part of that staff in order to ensure a smooth transition from Ferguson to Moyes. The second biggest problem is that Ferguson did not leave the best of squads for Moyes, in particular he never managed to replace Paul Scholes. And you don’t replace him with Fellaini either.
