Okonkwo hands Valletta BOV Super Cup
Valletta clinched the BOV Super Cup in the dying seconds of extra time with a Joseph Okonkwo debut goal that gave the ‘citizens’ a 3-2 win over league champions B’Kara.
Valletta took the lead five minutes from the end with Terence Scerri, but the celebration was soon over as Micahel Galea snatched the equalizer just minutes from the 90th minute whistle..
Into extra-time, Valletta took the lead once more with Omonigho Temile, and Trevor Cilia made it 2-2 on the 119th minute. But just seconds before referee Alan Mario Sant blew his final whistle, Nigerian striker Jospeh Okonkwo was crowned Valletta’s new found hero with a splendid goal, making it 3-2 for Valletta who lifted the BOV Super Cup.
