Japan FA appoint Alberto Zaccheroni as new Samurai Blue coach
The Japanese FA (JFA) have confirmed former Juventus coach Alberto Zaccheroni will guide the team forwards.
Alberto Zaccheroni has been appointed as new coach of the Japan national team, the JFA (Japan Football Association) said in a statement on Monday.
The move comes just five months after Zaccheroni was released by former employers Juventus after he failed to lead the club into the Champions League.
Zaccheroni was bought in by Juventus in February after they released Ciro Ferrara, but his reign there lasted just four months.
However, he is now set to kick-off a new start in Asia as he takes the job in Japan.
A statement on the JFA's official website reads: "The Japan Football Association have decided on Mr Alberto Zaccheroni as the new coach of the Samurai Blue."
Last week vice president of the JFA Kuniya Daini said the team's technical director would be in charge for the friendly games against Paraguay and Guatemala
