Quaresma called up to Portugal squad

Ricardo Quaresma has been called into Portugal's squad for the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Cyprus and Norway following the withdrawal of injury victim Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is expected to miss three weeks with an ankle injury suffered in Sunday night's Primera Division opener against Real Mallorca.

"After several contacts with the doctors of Real Madrid, which included seeing the results of the MRI scan carried out today, the medical team came to the conclusion that Ronaldo should not travel to Portugal," a statement from the Portuguese Football Federation read.

"In order to not run the risk of worsening the condition, he has been released from the national team."
