All square between Naxxar and Floriana

With this result, Naxxar are still without a win this season.

Naxxar went close in the 10th minute when a shot by Gilmar da Silva Ribeiro went just over the crossbar.

Floriana managed to take the lead as early as the 18th minute when off a pass by Amadou Samb, Vito Plut beat goalkeeper Julian Azzopardi with his shot.

In the 34th minute, Naxxar were awarded a penalty when Floriana’s Amadou Samb handled the ball inside the area off a freekick by Gilmar da Silva Ribeiro. From the penalty spot Gilmar da Silva Ribeiro had his shot neutralised by goalkeeper Valerio Senatore.

Naxxar were awarded another penalty in the 59th minute when Emanuel Briffa brought Terence Vella down inside the area. This time, Pape Gueye made no mistake from the penalty spot and made the score 1-1.

Floriana came close to restoring their lead in the 64th minute when Vito Plut’s shot from outside the area hit the woodwork.

In the 69th minute, Naxxar were reduced to 10 men when Angus Buhagiar was sent off after he hit an opponent in the face.

Both teams regret the outcome of the match as Floriana did not profit from having the extra man, while Naxxar will regret missing the penalty in the first half.
