Serie A to strike on September 25-26
Italian football will grind to a halt on September 25-26, as the footballers union has called a strike over disagreements with the Serie A Federation over the interpretation to the ‘Bosman Regulation.’
The news was announced by the footballers union spokesman, Massimo Oddo from Milan A.C. who said that the union is expressing its total disagreement at the way the Lega Calcio was handling the interpretation of the Bosman Regulation, with serious consequences on footballers work contracts.
The announcement has triggered an invitation for further talks between the footballers union and the Lega Calcio, with President Giancarlo Abete expressing “hope” that a solution would be found and a strike avoided.
The clubs are set to counter the strike with legal action against the players, as they collectively pay out a staggering 1 billion euro’s in salaries.
