Pieta and Floriana share spoils in drab encounter
A 1-1 draw between Pieta and Floriana means that both teams’ position in the table remains unchanged with Pieta continuing to gather precious points in their battle against relegation.
For Floriana this was a disappointing result after their dismal showing against Valletta last weekend.
It was a drab encounter with little to show for and not much to augur for Maltese Football with many of the matches resulting to be close to mediocre.
There was little or no scoring chances for most of the first half and in the early periods in the second half, with the match only coming alive in the closing minutes.
In fact, it was only two minutes from time when Pieta were awarded a penalty after veteran Licari was brought down by the Floriana keeper. From the penalty spot, Jurgen Pisani made no mistake. The blues however were immediately punished where in added time, from a corner taken by Steve Pisani, Steve Bonnici rose above the Pieta defenders and made it 1-1 with a strong header.
Floriana’s Matteo Piciollo was awarded the BOV player of the match.
