Balzan aim to leapfrog Floriana in fourth
Balzan defeated Sliema last weekend and a win over the Rainbows would enable them to surpass Floriana
Balzan face relegation threatened Tarxien this evening at the Tedesco Stadium and aim to continue their pursuit of a place in Europe. A win today would in fact enable Balzan to leapfrog Floriana once again.
Balzan are arguably the favourites to get all three points from this game, having had a splendid season so far and occupying the highest place in the table since their promotion to the top division. Having beaten Sliema Wanderers last week, Oliver Spiteri’s side will be eager to continue where they left off against a side desperate for precious points.
The Rainbows have not won in their last five matches; however they have been able to manage encouraging performances in their last outings despite defeat.
Tarxien have struggled severely this season and have been fighting against relegation for quite some time and it is now a very realistic possibility that the side could very well face relegation after some promising campaigns in previous years.
Balzan will be without duo Lydon Micallef and Elkin Serrano through suspension; while Tarxien will be without Manuel Acevedo who will start a two match ban after receiving a straight red against Valletta.
