Hibernians destroy Mosta in style
Run away leaders Hibernians consolidated their lead at the top of the BOV Premier League by trashing Mosta 5-0 in a one way affair at the National Stadium.
Mosta have become accustomed with suffering heavy defeats in the later stages of the season and the trashing at the hands of the Paolites comes to no particular surprise.
Following this victory, Hibs have now won 24 of their 28 matches scoring an astonishing 87 goals in 28.
The leaders forged ahead on 25 minutes thanks to a perfect curved effort from Jorge Pereira. A few minuts later hibs were unlucky not to increase their lead hitting the cross bar through Jackson Lima after a good build up.
On 40 minutes however, Hibs scored their second of the game when off a cross by Clayton Failla, Jean Paul Farrugia chested the ball down to his feet, to hit the ball with power and giving the keeper no chance.
The Paolites all but sealed the issue one minute before the break when Luis Andre De Melo scored from close range after a pass from Soares.
On 80 minutes, Hibernians added another with the leader’s forwards once again running riot in the Mosta area, Cohen finding Degabriele with an intelligent ball with the latter having no trouble in putting the ball into the net.
Three minutes from time, Jorginho scored the fifth and final goal of the match with a powerful drive after some good work by Degabriele.
