Georgia leave it late to defeat Malta

A goal in stoppage-time by substitute David Siradze left no chance for Malta to recover. Malta had a fantastic match and a draw would have been fair, but the goal in the final minutes of the match gave the Georgian side the 3 points.

Malta started pushing from the start and on the 20th minute from a corner delivered by Roderick Briffa, Jonathan Caruana's header missed the target by the smallest margin.

Georgia had some chances that were no concern for Malta's keeper Justin Haber and Malta's resilient defence.

In the second have Georgia and Malta both had goal scoring opportunities but the game started to look as it was going to end in a draw.

But in stoppage-time, Georgia managed to shock Malta. Georgian's captain Kakha Kaladze delivered a perfect cross which was not cleared by the Maltese defence and Siradze headed the ball past Haber to give Georgia all three points.
