Floriana and Vittoriosa share the spoils

Floriana and Vittoriosa played out a goalless draw which saw the Stars register their first point of the season in what may well be described as an uneventful and most boring game since the beginning of the new season.

Floriana sought victory against bottom ranked Vittoriosa, still without a point after four matches.

The Greens should have taken the lead on 3 minutes when a cross by Caruana was put into the net by Woods, but the referee whistled an offside.

Vittoriosa reacted when Grech entered the box too soon to be intercepted by Saidi.

Floriana again came close when Mecerod shot wide of the post, who again shot wide in what was to be the next only chance in half an hour.

The greens edged closer to a lead with a shot by Mecerod towards the end of the first half, but Agius secured his post with acrobatic save, and attracting the only applause of the game.

The second half was a non-story until the 61st minute when substitute Darmanin headed goalwards from a Caruana cross, again finding a concentrated Agius who secured the ball.

Darmanin was again unfortunate to make his mark on the 72nd minute when hit the crossbar when intercepting an superbly headed an overhead ball with Agius beaten.
