Parma defeat Sampdoria as Bojinov leaves it late

Valeri Bojinov's goal in the 84th minute settled the encounter, which was played in difficult conditions with the fog making it hard to see from one end of the pitch to the other.

It was the same story early in the second half with the hosts taking the game to their opponents, who then had the first real opportunity.

Giampaolo Pazzini's free-kick rattled the underside of the crossbar with a free-kick and the ball bounced out to Guido Marilungo, who was unable to head it either side of Antonio Mirante.

Pazzini was claiming a penalty in the 68th minute when Gabriel Paletta went in hard on him as he shot from an angle, but the referee waved play on.

Parma kept up the pressure and were rewarded in the 84th minute.

Christian Zaccardo played a reverse pass from the edge of the area into the path of Bojinov, who appeared to be in an offside position, but the flag stayed down as he picked his spot in the far corner.

It was Parma's first goal in over 400 minutes and one which was worth three points to save Marino's job.
