Tarxien brush aside Hibernians in Derby
Tarxien defeated neighbours 2-0 at the Hibs stadium yesterday evening. With this win, Tarxien move to second place sharing 13 points with Floriana who defeated Sliema earlier in the day.
Tarxien showed that they wanted all three points as they pushed throughout the entire match. This defeat left Hibernians seven matches without a win and they are second from the bottom of the table.
Tarxien’s first goal arrivedwith some luck as on the first minute they took the lead. It was an unfortunate goal for Hibernians. A clearance from Hibs goalkeeper Mario Muscat bounced of his own teammate Jonathan Pearson to go back into the net for an own goal.
Hibernians tried to get back into the match with an effort from Jean Paul Farrugia going wide and an Adrian Pulis header going wide as well.
In the second half a great effort from Hibernians Paul McManus was denied by Tarxien’s goalkeeper David Cassar.
Tarxien immediately replied with an effort Justin Grioli going wide. As well an effort from Tarxien’s Cristiano Dos Santos Rodrigues brushed the woodwork.
On the 75thminute Tarxien killed off the match with still 15 minutes left to play. Off a pass from Ricardo Costa, Sergio Pacheco De Oliveira had no problem beating goalkeeper Muscat.
