Ibrahimovic magic sinks Fiorentina as Roma continue winning
Milan continued on their Scudetto mission as they defeated Fiorentina 1-0 last night in Milan.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s overhead kick gave Milan the lead and the match winner on the 45th minute of the first half.
The Fiorentina defence left enough space in the area for Ibrahimovic to produce his magic, and the inform player made no mistake.
Fiorentina created some chances throughout the match but none of the materialised into a goal.
With this result, Milan stretch their lead to nine points from city rivals and current champions Inter. The match against Chievo today is very important for injury ravaged Inter in many ways as if they fail to win, it could be the end for Benitez and it spells major trouble for Inter as they are slipping down the table at a fast rate.
In the earlier match, Roma defeated Udinese 2-0. This result moves Roma to third place in the standings. Ranieri’s men are now on the right path against to mount a challenge for the Scudetto.
It is becoming the same usual story for Roma as in the beginning of the season, they were written off as title contenders, but it has all changed now.
Jeremy Menez put Roma ahead on the 24th thanks to some fine dribbling to go past Mehdi Benatia and Andrea Coda before shooting a curled shot past the Udinese keeper.
Borriello sealed the match on the 56th minute when he showed some excellent strength in the Udinese area. Borriello shook off a number of players who were all over him to end up curling one into the back of the net.
Udinese did have some bad luck during the match as they hit the woodwork on a number of occasions, but it was not to be for them as it was Roma’s night.
