Vittoriosa and Marsaxlokk share the spoils as Birkirkara are back to winning ways
Vittoriosa and Marsaxlokk played to a 1-1 draw yesterday afternoon.
Marsaxlokk had the most control of the match, but Vittoriosa never gave up and left it late to score the equaliser.
Marsaxlokk took the lead on the 20th minutewhen Martin Deanov’s pass was received by Trevor Templeman who made no mistake in beating goalkeeper Simon Agius.
The equaliser arrived for Vittoriosa when on the 74th minute Anthony Ewurum served Jorge Santos Silva with a great pass who then dribbled past the defender before bheating goalkeeper Reuben Gauci.
This draw extends Vittoriosa’s positive run to four games.
In the second match of the day, Birkirkara returned to winning ways by defeating Qormi 2-0.
With this result Birkirkara move up to fifth place and Qormi now are four matches without a win.

Birkirkara started pressing right from the start. Rownen Muscat could have given Birkirkara the lead in the first 40 seconds when he was alone in front of goal, but he chipped the ball just wide.
Birkirkara lost another opportunity to take the lead 30 minutes in the match. A Qormi defender handled the ball inside the area and Michael Galea took the penalty shot, but it was saved by Qormi goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia.
On the 42nd minute, Birkirkara took the lead when Emiliano Lattes beat the Qormi goalkeeper to give them a 1-0 lead before the end of the first half.
Birkirkara kept pressing in the second half and they sealed the game on the 86th minute when Emiliano Lattes got his second goal of the match when his low show beat the Qormi goalkeeper again.
