Mourinho’s Real Madrid ripped apart by five-star Barcelona

Barcelona are on top of the Spanish La Liga table after putting five goals past the under-par Real Madrid.

Barcelona showed from the start of the match that they wanted to win at all costs. Real Madrid could barely keep up with the lightning fast counter-attacks of Messi and co.

Xabi opened the scoring on the ten minute mark when a defensive error gave him the room to put one past goalkeeper Casillas.

Eight minutes later Pedro made it 2-0 with a close-range shot.

It was all Barcelona from then all as Real Madrid barely made it to the other side of the pitch.

It remained 2-0 until the end of the first half.

In the second half on the 55th  minute David Villa continued to add misery on Jose Mourinho’s men. If that was not bad enough exactly three minutes later Villa added another to make it 4-0.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Casillas could not believe what was happening as the goals kept coming.

To make matters worse, Barcelona substitute Jeffren barely broke a sweat when on the 91stminute he made it 5-0.

The referee was busy throughout the entire game breaking up the players after heated arguments and pulling out the cards.

In total 12 yellow cards were shown. Barcelona were shown five and Real Madrid seven. One red card was shown in the final seconds to Sergio Ramos after getting a second yellow card.

After the match Mourinho immediately played down the loss at the post-match press conference.

"One team played very good, one team very bad," Mourinho commented in a post-match press conference. "One deserved to win and one deserved to lose.

"Humiliated? No. It's easy to deal with this loss, we just weren't good enough."

The big question is how will the Real Madrid directors react after this humiliation. The pressure will surely be on Mourinho now as for the Real Madrid president, beating Barcelona would have been a priority. On top of losing to Barcelona, Real Madrid are now two points behind them in the standings.
