Balzan defeat Mosta to collect their first three points
At the Hibernians stadium, Balzan collected their first three points after defeating Mosta 3-2.
Balzan took control of possession immediately and created their first good opportunity after six minutes. Alfred Effiong delivered the ball towards Terence Agius, who fired a shot that went inches wide.
Mosta responded on the 23rd minute when Martin Vleck went past two defenders, but saw his effort being neutralised by Janjusevic.
Ten minutes later, Balzan went ahead. Bojan Kaljevic sent a cross from the left that found Terence Agius, who finished past Yenz Cini.
On the 41st minute, Balzan doubled the score. From a free kick, Justin Grioli sent a cross inside the penalty area that was met by Effiong. The Maltese striker sent a header that hit the upright, before ending up at the back of the net.
Mosta started the second half looking to get more into the game and managed to pull one back on the 53rd minute. Vleck went past two Balzan defenders before firing a shot that ended up behind Janjusevic.
Despite Mosta’s efforts, Balzan scored their third goal on the 65th minute. Adrian Caruana fouled Lydon Micallef inside the penalty area. From the penalty spot, Kaljevic made no mistake to make it 3-1.
Twelve minutes later, Paul Fenech handled the ball inside the penalty area and Fyodor Zammit pointed to the spot for the second time. From the penalty, Victor Osenghale kept his composure and scored Mosta’s second goal.
