Liverpool drew 1-1 with Steau Bucharest as Utrecht and Napoli played to a 3-3 draw in Group K. Napoli came back from being behind 3-1 with Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani claiming a hat-trick.

Villareal defeated Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 in Group G while PAOK Salonika got the point they needed to advance to the next round after playing to a 1-1 draw with Club Brugge.

Dynamo Kiev thrashed BATE Borison 4-1 in Group E while FC Sheriff and AZ Alkmaar played to a 1-1 draw.
