Birkirkara and Sliema play to a draw

Birkirkara and Sliema played to a 2-2 draw to give Birkirkara their second successive draw and leave them fifth in the standings. Sliema could have used all three points as they are now six matches without a win and are third from the bottom in the BOV Premier League standings.

Sliema took the lead on the 23rd  minute when Obinna Obiefule passed to Jackson Lima who’s excellent shot beat goalkeeper Michael Fraser.

Five minutes later, Birkirkara equalised when they were awarded a penalty. Clifford Gatt Baldacchino fouled Alan Tabone in the area. Tabone made no mistake and converted the penalty to make it 1-1.

Birkirkara managed to take the lead on the 43rd  minute. A great lob by Alan Tabone beat the Sliema goalkeeper.

Six minutes into the second half, Sliema scored the last goal of the match and stole the important three points away from Birkirkara who desperately needed them to keep on track with leaders Valletta.

Scerri made no mistake in beating goalkeeper Michael Fraser t make it 2-2.

As both teams were desperate for all three points for different reasons, they had to settle for the draw. Sliema remain at the bottom and continue to struggle while Birkirkara lose more ground on rivals Valletta.
