Juventus put on brilliant display to keep Scudetto dream alive

Juventus defeated Catania away last evening to keep them in touch with leaders Milan.

Catania, who have not been beaten at home this season showed from the start that Juventus had to fight hard if they wanted all three points.

Simone Pepe put Juventus in front on the 35th  minute. Vincenzo Iaquinta beat the offside trap to setup Pepe, who made no mistake with his shot being on target.

The joy did not last long as Catania replied immediately just two minutes later. Fabio Grosso’s sloppy clearance inside the area left the ball for Catania’s Takayuki Moriomoto who found the back of the net with an excellent shot.

Juventus immediately started to press for the lead again. A bit of bad luck for Quagliarella as his shot hit the cross bar, crossing the goal line. Television replays showed it was a definite goal, but it was not allowed.

Quagliarella was given justice when minutes later on the 44th  minute, Iaquinta again did some fine work to set up Quagliarella who made it 2-1.

In the second half a massive error by Christian Terlizzi just outside the area gifted Quagliarella who made it 3-1.

Catania had good possession of the ball and could of easily equalised at times.

Juventus now have 27 points, six points behind leaders Milan.
