Gżira United bounce back with a win
Gżira United bounced back from their defeat against Mosta with a comfortable 3-0 win against Pembroke Athleta.
The Maroons had a golden opportunity to open the score on the 33rd minute after Pulo’s cross from the left side found Moises Avila Perez who missed from an ideal position.
Gżira managed to go ahead on the 62nd minute. Yanis Tonna received the ball on the right and ran into a central position before firing a fine shot past Mario Muscat.
Brank Nisevic’s side doubled the score on the 78th minute when Avila Perez’s cross from the right was met by Ellinton Antonio Costa Morais who finished inside the net following a deflection.
Seven minutes from time, Moises Avila Perez was unlucky not to score Gżira’s third goal. The Spanish striker fired a shot from the edge of the penalty area that hit the upright.
Despite this missed chance, Gżira scored another goal two minutes later. Gianmarco Conti found Juan Carlas Corbalan who finished past Muscat from close range.
