Hibernians earned a 2-0 win over Mosta to go top of the table.
Mosta created the first opportunity on goal after fourteen minutes. Martin Vlcek delivered a cross that was cleared by Marcelo Dias before Njongo Priso Doding could finish.
Hibernians hit back and went ahead on the 23rd minute. Kurt Magro handled the ball inside the penalty area and Philip Farrugia ordered a penalty. From the eleven metres mark, Jurgen Degabriele made no mistake and finished past Emmanuel Bartolo.
Four minutes later, a shot by Johann Bezzina forced a good save from Bartolo.
The Paolites had another good opportunity on the 71st minute. Renan Telles Pimenta went on a good run before firing a shot that ended up high.
Mosta’s hope of an equaliser suffered a setback on the 77th minute when Francis Onwudinjo Chinatu was sent off following a foul on Joseph Mbong.
Ten minutes from time, Andrew Hogg was on the alert to deny Jaroslav Repa. The Mosta player hit a shot from distance that forced a good save from the Maltese goalkeeper.
Hibs responded by scoring their second goal. Bezzina’s free kick was partially cleared by the Mosta goalkeeper. Possession fell for Jonathan Pearson who finished inside the net.
