Inter win the FIFA Club World Cup

Benitez poured cold ice on celebrations as his post match comments are directed to Inter president Massimo Moratti.

Inter made history yesterday evening after they are the first team to collect five major trophies in a single calendar year.

Inter had no problem overcoming TP Mazembe in the final of the FIFA World Club Cup by defeating them 3-0.

Goals thanks to Goran Pandev, Samuel Eto’o and Jonathan Biabiany gave Inter the historic victory.

TP Mazambe could not break down Inter’s stubborn defence and Inter’s one touch football setup some great opportunities for Pandev, Milito and Eto’o.

This victory will ease some pressure from Inter coach Rafael Benitez, but his post match comments could be a sign that he is leaving or will eventually be fired. Reports from Italy suggest he won’t be back after the Christmas break.

After the match Benitez’s gave Inter three options with his comments:

"One, 100 per cent support for the coach and buy four or five players -- to build a stronger team with competition among the players to be able to carry on winning matches and trophies," a bristling Benitez said at a news conference.

"Two, carry on like this without a project, without planning and go ahead with one person to blame, for the whole season getting to May this way.

"The third is to speak to my agent, reach an agreement if there is not this support. Simple."

It could possibly be that Moratti will pick the third option as during the half-time break, it was reported Moratti was having a long discussion with candidate Fabio Capello.

FC Zenit coach Luciano Spalletti, Milan’s former coach Leonardo and Walter Zenga are also candidates for the post of Inter manager.
