The Rainbows went ahead after just eight minutes. Alex Da Paixao Alves went on a good run down the right flank before delivering the ball towards Alex Nilsson. The latter controlled the ball well and hit a low shot past Tyrone Gauci.

Tarxien nearly made it 2-0 on the 25th minute. From a free kick, Daniel Zerafa forced an excellent save from Gauci.

However, Tarxien only waited five more minutes to double the score. Da Paixao Alves sent a through ball towards Nilsson who finished home from close range.

Jesmond Zerafa’s side sealed the issue on the 74th minute. First, it was Claudio Daniel Frances who fired a shot that hit the post. From the rebound, Da Paixao Alves saw his effort being blocked. Possession fell for Julian Galea whose finish ended up inside the net.
