St. Andrews went close after four minutes. From a free kick, Joseph Farrugia saw his effort going slightly over.

Floriana responded on the 9th minute. Maurizio Vella went on a good run down the left flank and sent a cross inside the penalty area towards Amadou Samb who failed to make contact with the ball.

On the 11th minute, Aidan Friggieri of St. Andrews missed a good chance from an ideal position as he fired high.

On the 47th minute, Floriana were unlucky not break the deadlock. Andre Scicluna sent a cross towards Ignacio Varela whose header hit the post. From the rebound, Samb headed towards goal, but the St. Andrews defence managed to block his effort.

St. Andrews responded on the 66th minute. Ziga Kastrevec hit a shot that went well wide.

On the 72nd minute, Ryan Camenzuli tried his luck for Floriana, but his shot was blocked.
