Liverpool win as City keep pressure on United

Manchester United had to work hard to defeat West Bromwich Albion 2-1.

Wayne Rooney finally ended his long wait for a goal after he put United in the lead as early as the third minute.

West Brom pressed for the draw and it arrived on the 14th  minute thanks to James Morrison.

Late in the second half, Javier Hernandez scored the winner for United on the 75th  minute to guarantee them all three points.

Manchester City are still in contention for the title as they defeated Blackpool 1-0. This win keeps them level on points with United at the top of the table.

City could of defeated Blackpool with a greater margin after missing many golden opportunities. Carlos Tevez even missed a penalty. Adam Johnson was the man of the match for City as he got the goal to win the match on the 34th  minute.

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson can relax for a couple of days as Jole Cole scored the winner against Bolton that probably saved Hodgson’s job for the time being. Liverpool went on to win 2-1.

It was a nightmare start for Liverpool as Kevin Davis put  Bolton ahead on the 43rd  minute. Fernando Torres got the equaliser on the 49th.

Jole Cole then saved the day for Liverpool in added time. His goal arrived on the 92nd  minute with a shot from close range.

In other matches, Tottenham Hotspurs continued their fine form by defeating Fulham 1-0.

West Ham moved out of the relegation zone for the first time this season by defeating Wolves 2-0.

Everton are slipping close to the relegation zone by being defeated 2-0 by Stoke.

Finally Sunderland are back to winning ways after two consecutive defeats by defeating Blackburn Rovers 3-0.

In the final match of the day, Arsenal put three past Birmingham to keep in touch with leaders Manchester United.

Goals thanks to Robin Van Persie 13’, Samir Nasri 58’ and  and Own goal from Roger Johnson 65’ gave Arsenal the important win.
