Balzan left it late to secure a 2-1 win against St. Andrews.
Balzan created the first opportunity on goal after twenty-five minutes. Bojan Kaljevic hit a shot that went marginally wide.
St. Andrews responded on the 39th minute. Aidan Friggieri fired a shot that ended up wide.
Oliver Spiteri’s side went ahead on the 62nd minute. Following a free kick, the ball ended up in the path of Kaljevic who finished home from close range.
St. Andrews hit back four minutes later. From a free kick, Ivan Paz delivered a cross towards Bong Won Che whose header went over.
On the 85th minute, St. Andrews were awarded a penalty after Christian Cassar fouled Dale Camilleri inside the penalty area. However, from the penalty spot, Paz finished high.
St. Andrews were awarded another penalty on the 93rd minute. Bruno Giglio De Oliveira pushed an opponent inside the area and the referee whistled for a penalty. This time, Joseph Farrugia took charge of the shot and finished past Cassar.
A minute later, Balzan scored the winning goal. Abdelkarim Nafti went on the right flank and sent the ball towards Elkin Serrano Valero who finished behind Jake Galea.
On the 95th minute, Ryan Fenech of Balzan was sent off for using abusive language towards the referee.
