Hibernians and Marsaxlokk share the spoils
Hibernians and Marsaxlokk played to a 2-2 draw yesterday afternoon.
This is the twelfth match for Hibernians without a victory while Marsaxlokk are six matches without a victory.
This was a exciting encounter as both teams were desperate for points.
Marsaxlokk opened up the score 15 minutes into the match. Gareth Sciberras controlled the ball well inside the area after receiving a pass from Julio Alcorse,. Sciberras’s shot beat goalkeeper Mario Muscat to put Marsaxlokk ahead.
Hibernians equalised on the 53rdminute after Richie Hart passed to Edward Herrera inside the area who then concluded by beating goalkeeper Reuben Gauci.
It was Hibernians who had control now and they managed to take the lead on the 75thminute. Adrian Pulis managed to beat the Marsaxlokk goalkeeper by lobbing the ball in.
The lead did not last long as Marsaxlokk scored exactly four minutes later thanks to Alfred Effiong’s powerful shot from inside the area.
Marsaxlokk were a bit unfortunate near the end of the match as they had some good opportunities to score the goal that could of gave them all three points.
