Naxxar made a flying start to the match as they went ahead after just seven minutes. Scott James Fenwich received the ball from Duane Bonnici and finished inside the net.

The Paolites equalised on the 26th minute. Clayton Failla sent a shot that hit the woodwork. Rebound fell for Jorge Elias dos Santos who headed home.

On the 76th minute, Naxxar ended up in ten men as Arnaud Mendy was given his marching orders by the referee.
