UEFA financial fair play: Italian clubs have the edge over English clubs

English Premier clubs have no choice but to accept UEFA’s financial fair play rules -  UEFA president Michel Platini.

At a seminar organised by the Italian FA in Coverciano, he made it clear that the days of clubs spending big and amounting heavy debts are over.

Platini said that the English Premier League is well known for its wealth and heavy spending. The English clubs will struggle to accept the change.

“Football is living beyond the rules of normality. Financial fair play simply means not spending more than what we can afford," said Platini.

"We cannot accumulate debts of €1.2 billion per annum. Even the presidents have had enough of spending so much, and I am convincing them.

"In Italy everyone agrees, but it's more difficult convincing Premier League owners,” Concluded Platini.
